Art Talk
It seems that everyone likes to take photographs, and that is even more apparent now that many people have cameras built into their phones, tablets and computers. Nowadays, most people have access to a camera wherever they go taking photos constantly throughout their days. In honor of the art of photography, a new show is opening this week at Bozarts Gallery on Main Street.
Interpreting the Photo-graph will have an opening reception on Friday, October 18 from 6-8 p.m. It is being curated by alliance member, Angela Clanton, who is a skilled artist who works in digital photography. She has invited two other photographers to show with her.
Ivo Camps and William Goodman will be exhibiting photographic works along with Clanton’s. Both artists are friends of Clanton, and she admires their work. Goodman is known for his work around Mississippi, and is based out of Jackson. He specializes in an image transfer technique that he has mastered using gel medium to superimpose copies of his photos onto collages he has constructed onto canvas. The resulting images are compelling and very interesting to look at. Clanton’s work has been seen on most of the postcards for Bozarts Gallery shows, as she is the chief graphic designer for the gallery and alliance that helps manage it. Her skillful eye is apparent in all of her images.
Her show will open with a bang on Friday night, and she encourages all to dress to impress as there will be a red carpet photo opportunity at the event. Please send me your arts related news to arttogollc@gmail.com.
