Welcome Sign Honors 2013 Problem Solving Team

2014 Team Headed Back To State, Mock Trial Competition Team Also Advances

WATER VALLEY–The Water Valley Chamber of Commerce has erected three new welcome signs touting the 2013 Mississippi Future Problem Solving state champs.
    The signs are placed at strategic locations–Wise Street,  Central Street and Blackmur Drive–and welcome motorists to the the Valley. They replace the long-standing welcome signs that congratulated the 1990 state championship football team.
    Chamber President Tyler Hill said the former signs were faded and no longer legible.
    The 2013 team members included Callie Trusty, Anna Williamson, Shade Epes and Tyler Epes and sponsor Keli Lindsey.
    Two of these participants, the Epes sisters, are also on the 2014 Problem Solving Team.
    “Our team advanced to the state competition again this year,” reported Lindsey, who coaches the team which also includes Ally Avant and Lexi Fowler. The state competition is scheduled Feb. 27 and 28 in Canton.
    Lindsey also told the Herald two teams represented the school at the Regional Mock Trial Competition in Oxford last weekend.
     The two teams included:
Team H:  Tyler Epes, Shade Epes, Ally Avant, Lexi Fowler, Greta Koshenina, Cooper Clement, Kelsey Neeley
Team B:  Marshall Allred, Brandon Smith, Payton Bonds, Austin King, Jackson Ward, AK Burress, Brian Fox
Team B advanced to the state competition which will be held at the Hinds County Courthouse February 28-March 1.
The mock trial team attorney coach is Cory Williamson.
