Staff Report

PINE VALLEY – Bright colored posters are popping up in windows in storefronts all across the county as the anticipated Pine Valley Music and Art Fest approaches. The festival will be held at the Pine Valley School.
Scheduled for May 31, almost a dozen bands and 30 artists have committed to the event, dubbed “A Celebration of Life, Music and Art.”
Event Organizer John Forsyth reported bands will take the stage every half hour during the family-friendly afternoon event. Activities are also scheduled on the school yard, weather permitting. The music will range from Hill Country Blues, Rock and Roll, Funk and others.
“We have some real talented artists,” Forsyth explained. He added that he was recruited to serve on the historic Pine Valley School House board of directors and decided the event would be a great fundraiser and artistic venue for both local and out-of-town talent. Forsyth is also an artist and is unveiling his first sand casting that will be a 36-inch tall depiction of Stonehenge.
Donations for the county’s first consolidate school, now turned community center will be accepted at the door.
Local food vendors will participate including Le Mojo Baker, D & D Barbecue the B.T.C. Old Fashioned Grocery and others.
The school is located at 4490 Hwy. 32 West, outside Water Valley. Check next week’s Herald for a list of artists who have committed to the festival. For more information, contact Forsyth at 662-202-6901.
