Rotary Seeks Seven More Participants For Big Chili Cook-Off
The Rotary Club of Water Valley needs about five to seven more participants to enter the “Chili Cook-Off” on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 11 a.m. until 2 pm at the Pocket Park on Main Street. This event will coincide with the annual downtown businesses’ Open House.
Participants are requested to bring their “cooked” chili in a crock pot or a pot with a warming tray and let Water Valley folks enjoy your culinary talent by purchasing bowls of chili, fritos and a drink for only $5.
The club is hoping to have at least 20 chili cookers. The entry fee is $10 to compete for first place with a $100 reward for the yummiest chili. A second place winner with really good chili will win $75 and the third place winner with good chili will win $25. The judges for this competition will be Dr. G. R. Orndorff, Bobby Jones and Terry Champion.
Your chili will be sold either in bowls with cheese, Fritos and a soft drink to be eaten at the park or will be served to go. All proceeds from the sale of the chili will be used to fund the community projects of the Rotary Club.
For more information, contact Phyllis Goodwin at 473-3388, Sandra Smith at 473-7558, Cinnamon Foster at 473-1140 or Daryl Burney at 458-9339 as soon as possible to enter the contest.
“We need chili cookers to sign up, don’t miss out on this tasty treat and opportunity to showcase your special recipe,” Goodwin added.
