Bank’s Grand Reopening Is Friday

WATER VALLEY – The long anticipated grand re-opening and open house is scheduled Friday at Mechanics Bank following more than a year of work renovating five Main Street buildings the bank occupies.
The renovation includes interior work and returning the buildings back into five original buildings in a project Water Valley Main Street Manager Mickey Howley describes as a strong appreciation for Water Valley’s past, present and future.
The ribbon cutting is scheduled shortly before 8:30 with the Water Valley ambassadors and Mayor Larry Hart cutting the ribbon for the grand re-opening.
“We are fortunate to have this home-grown, home-town, home-owned bank in our community,” Hart said about the project. “It has been the backbone of our community for many years and it is absolutely amazing that they have decided to make this type of investment and reinvestment in the City of Water Valley,” the mayor added. “Our heart-felt gratitude goes out to those decision makers.”
The main lobby of the bank reopened last Wednesday to greet customers and well-wishers after the main access point for customers was shifted across the street in a temporary location for more than a year.
“In the last seven years we have seen about $6.5 million invested in Water Valley and Mechanics Bank certainly comes in the strongest with this project,” Howley added about the renovation. “It shows faith in the future and the strength of the current downtown economy,” Howley added.
The public is encouraged to join in the ribbon cutting celebrating the grand-reopening of the bank.
After Friday’s ribbon cutting, an open house follows when the bank opens at 9 a.m. and continues until 4 p.m.
