Memphis Pastor To Speak At MLK Day Service
COFFEEVILLE – The Yalobusha County N.A.A.C.P. and the Mount Moriah Baptist Association have united to host the 2016 MLK celebration. Local N.A.A.C.P. President James Swearengen and Mount Moriah Moderator Pastor Larry Hervey extend an invitation for the public to join them in this celebration on Monday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m. to commemorate the life and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King. Lunch will be served following the celebration. The celebration will be held at the Mt. Moriah District Association Building, located on CR 211 outside Coffeeville.
This gathering, as in past years, will unite all who desire to honor the memory, service and sacrifice of Dr. King, as well as those who have worked diligently and faithful for justice and freedom in America.
This year’s speaker, Dr. Frank E. Ray, Sr., is one of America’s most respected Bible teachers and a recognized orator, author and recording artist. His ministry springs from New Salem M.B. Church in Memphis where he has pastored for almost four decades with the congregation growing from 50 members to 5,000. Dr. Ray travels the country sharing the gospel and fulfilling his commitment to bring souls to Jesus Christ.
Rehearsal for the celebration’s choir will be held at the Mt. Moriah building on Sunday evening, Jan. 17, at 6 p.m. All who are willing are encouraged to come, participate and work together to bless this service.
