Melonvine Will Host Art Council’s Costume Party

Water Valley has a new venue for special events, Melonvine Marketplace, 817 S. Main Street. Formerly the old Jeff Davis School-house, and most recently the site of the Other-Other Place (just past Borg Warner), Melonvine Marketplace is opening its doors to the Water Valley Arts Council’s first fundraiser of 2016, the “Come As You Aren’t” Costume Party and Dance on March 5th.
This historic building was purchased last year by Cinnamon Foster and has been undergoing renovations ever since. Melonvine opened its outdoor flea market last summer in the shade of its large covered front porch but the real activity has been ongoing inside as spaces are being prepared to house future art, antiques, and collectibles vendors, and prepare rental spaces for events and celebrations.
Though much of the inside is still a work in progress, the “Principal’s Office” section is ready for a party! Come out and support the Water Valley Arts Council and celebrate the ongoing restoration of this property. “Come As You Aren’t” Costume Party and Dance, March 5th from 7-10 p.m. Prizes for best individual and group costumes. Music by DJ Bobby Murphree. Snacks and refreshments will be served. Tickets are $10 at the door and you don’t need a costume to come to the party!
