Shooting Altercation Tops Police Activity In June

WATER VALLEY – A shooting disturbance on June 10 at 100 Crowson Circle topped the police activity in June. The Water Valley Police Department received a report of multiple shots fired before several men fled in a vehicle.
No one was injured in the incident, but the back glass was shot out of one vehicle and one round traveled through the living room wall of a residence near where two children were sleeping. The subsequent investigation revealed the altercation stemmed from an earlier incident at Rascal’s Convenience Store and multiple suspects face charges in connection with the shooting and drug charges following an extensive investigation, according to Water Valley Police Chief Mike King.
Suspects charged include:
• Todderick Kincaide of Coffeeville was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana;
• Warren Draper of Water Valley was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana;
• Deriguez Rogers of Water Valley was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
• Cartier Green of Water Valley was charged with shooting into a dwelling house and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon;
• Rotez Rockett of Water Valley was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime;
• Deleslie Devantae Adams was charged with shooting into a dwelling house.
The police reports indicate that the charges against Draper, Green, Rockett, and Adams stem from the original shooting altercation. A search warrant executed the following day at Jones Street in connection to the shooting resulted in the seizure of crack cocaine, marijuana, a .40 caliber pistol, a .380 pistol, counterfeit money and large knives. Draper, Kincaide and Rogers were inside the house when the warrant was executed on June 11 and face drug charges, according to the police reports. The owner of the residence, Green, turned himself in to authorities on June 20.

Police investigated the reported of a counterfeit $100 bill at Main Street Package Store on June 17. A suspect from Clarksdale was identified in the investigation. King said the bill was an altered $1 bill, which had apparently been sprayed with a cleaner and then reprinted with a color printer. King also explained a marker pen commonly used by store clerks will indicate the bill is real.
Police responded to a burglary alarm at 315 Liquor Store on Blackmur Drive on June 15. The responding officer arrested Dunta Phillips, who was coming around the building with a hammer in hand. Phillips was charged with burglary of a commercial building.
Police investigated a possible credit card fraud on Blackmur Drive on June 21.
Police responded to a burglary in progress at 48 Buena Vista on June 11 after the owner arrived home and discovered her front door was open and air conditioner was missing. Upon arrival, officers determined entry was gained through the window after the air conditioner was removed. The owner reported a television, Playstation 3, File mate tablet, air conditioner and Genesis Surround Sound had been taken. The total value of the items was $1,560.
