The Yalobusha County Relay For Life committee members urge everyone to make plans to attend this year’s fundraiser scheduled Saturday, October 15 at Railroad Park in downtown Water Valley. The event will start at 4 p.m. with the Survivor Walk followed by the 3 Mile Run/Walk starting at 4:30. The lineup also includes food, fun, games, music, inflatables, fellowship and honoring friends who have survived, are battling or have lost their battle with cancer. Activities will continue until 9 p.m. in this family fun event to help fight back against cancer.
Names, addresses and tee shirt sizes are still needed for cancer survivors so that they can participate in the survivor walk and dinner at the Relay For Life. To purchase a Luminary ($10), or a Sky Lantern ($25) in memory or in honor of someone or a tee shirt ($15), you can stop by the Circuit Clerk’s office in either courthouse or contact McCullar or Burney.
Everyone who plans to participate in the 3 Mile Run/Walk is urged to pre-register. You can contact McCullar or Burney or register online at www.relayforlife.org /yalobushams. After logging on the site, click the sign up button and create an account. When the account has been established, you will join the team 3K Relay. Please note that when filling out form, change the $100 donation to $25 and put in your t-shirt size to register and pay.
The entry fee for this event is $25 which includes medals for the top three finishers and tee shirts for all registered. Participants who register the day of the race will not receive a tee shirt.
Remember, you do not have to run or walk to participate in the Relay For Life, there are activities for all ages.
“We have quite a few items that have been generously donated that we will be auctioning off at the event,” Burney added.
In addition to raise much needed funds, the event will also help raise awareness of the importance of cancer prevention, early detection, treatment and patient support.
