OXFORD – Callahan Quick Print, Inc. is approaching the mid-century mark since opening in Oxford back in 1972. For many of the early years business founder Robert Callahan had a lot of customers in Water Valley and now second generation printers Glen Callahan and his sister, Stephanie Callahan Mills; along with Glen’s wife, Christy, and cousin, Micheal, are hoping to reconnect with the community to provide all of the printing needs.
“When I was a kid, Water Valley didn’t have a print shop other than the Herald office. My mom is from Water Valley and has family ties to Water Valley. We had many of our customers come up to our office and several businesses that we serviced for many years,” Glen explained. “Most people in the Water Valley community remember my parents, Robert and Dean Callahan. They are retired, but are still involved in the business.”
Glen remembers his dad working on the Watermelon Carnival book each year when Mary Sue Stevens would often come to their house to help get it together.
“We printed that book for over 20 years. I have been here 27 years, starting as a delivery person and doing the bindery, cutting and bookwork, while working alongside other family members.” Glen added.
Back then they made several deliveries a week to Water Valley customers before much of their business was phased out here when a new print shop opened on Main Street in 1998.
“We didn’t want to step on their toes, we understand keeping business local,” Glen explained.
Now with the void after Varner Printing closed their storefront late last year in Water Valley, Glen and Stephanie hope to reconnect with some old customers and meet some new ones.
“We have already started delivering a few jobs in Water Valley. Whatever anybody needs, we are here to accommodate them,” he added. “Even my dad, he is retired, but lives just north of Water Valley and can help. I have no problem meeting people at their businesses or home to pick up or take orders and deliver the job once it is complete.”
The business specializes in all types of printing – traditional jobs that include business cards, continuous forms, invoices, envelopes, promotional products, cups and bags, scratch pads and just about anything else you can think of including signs, stickers, decals and auto lettering. The list also includes work for political candidates including direct mailing
.
“We print on everything but a T-shirt or hat,” Glen explained.
