My surprise visit Monday morning was my sweet great granddaughter, Haven Rose Dukes and her daddy Waylon.
Tommy and Debbie McCool had a great time yesterday. They were at church. After church, their granddaughters Allison Dukes, Caitlyn And Hannah Beavers wanted to go to the Tupelo mall – so they took them.
They stopped at Arby’s in Oxford for lunch and then the mall. Heading home around 7 p.m., as they were coming through Batesville they saw the carnival was there. They stopped there a little while so the girls could ride a few rides, before finally heading home. Debbie said she was glad she is off Monday to rest up, but it sure was wonderful to spend the day with all of them. She added that it would be great to get the grandsons together sometime and do something, but they are older and very busy.
Doris Hoop goes to Jackson on June 5 to have her right hip replaced. Her grandchildren are out of school, so she will have some help.

Please keep Sheila Jackson in your prayers. She fell taking groceries out of her car Thursday and after a trip to the emergency room they discovered she had broken her kneecap. Shelia will be sporting new crutches for a while. She had eye surgery Monday and fell Thursday. She can’t bend over or bend her leg. Be careful with the crutches or you will be falling over! Praying for a fast healing for you, Shelia.
Little Miss Haley Mae Beck, daughter of Zenda and Richard Beck, and great granddaughter of Darlene Moorman, entered a pageant in Ripley and won best smile and prettiest baby in the beauty contest. After seeing a picture of her, I can understand why she won those two honors – she is a beautiful baby girl. I think she is four months old.
Doris Hoop says she had a great weekend with her best friend, Charlotte. Friday night was fish fry, Saturday was shop till they dropped and Sunday was a BIG BBQ. And Monday it was relax and do-what-they-wanted day.
Gloria and Miguel Marceleno visited with Miguel’s daughter, Sunni Cheyenne Marceleno and grandsons in Louisiana recently. They had a good time playing with the boys and visiting family.
Carson Oldaker graduated from High School in Hickman, Kentucky Friday night. He is the grand son of Mickey and Daisy Isbell of Oakland. Congratulations, Carson! They brought Zane back with them to spend the week. A lot of spoiling going on in the Isbell home this week.
Ginger and Phil Harrison and boys enjoyed hearing Diane Hill sing at Pine Grove Sunday. Phil, Ginger and Jake went to Magnolia Smokehouse on Saturday evening to see Josh play with the band “In Debt,” and they enjoyed it so much. The boys did a great job.
Martha Box said, “ I will tell you that many readers this week came up talking about reading your column.”
Thank you readers!
Martha had a great supper and music at Carmella’s Tuesday with new and old friends. Also good coffee time with Ben and the boys every afternoon at “Griffis.”
Martha reported a wonderful visit at Tillatoba Baptist Church Sunday. Brother Harris sure gave a spirit filled message. Martha said it certainly encouraged her to share and teach Jesus’ love and salvation to all we see, wherever we are. Martha and her sister, Joyce, also ate a sooooo good fish meal at Catfish Hut.
Martha’s brother, Ronnie Wortham came from Texas and spent the night and picked up Brother Jesse. They are now in Minnesota fishing!
My daughter, Donna Garripoli, came up last week and stained my arbor gray and came back the next day and added vines and solar lights. I’m swinging in tall cotton now! If you pass by this way, stop and we will swing a while. We had a pretty good little rain storm the other night and I kept running to the door to see if they were still on and, of course, they were.
Happy Birthday to William L Griffin, who celebrated Monday the 29th; Mary Brett Hartley on June 1st; Alex Ballard celebrates the 7th; and Jake Rose, Kelly Paris, Jonnie Sivley and Charles Pyron share a birthday on the 8th.
