Trump Carries Yalobusha

WATER VALLEY – President Elect Donald Trump carried 10 of the county’s 12 precincts in the Nov. 5 Presidential Election, earning 60 percent of the votes cast in Yalobusha County with 3,498 votes. Vice President Kamala Harris received 2,276 of the votes cast in the county, or 38.9 percent.

The local vote tally was the strongest for Trump in the last three elections – in 2016 he received 55 percent of the votes cast in the county and in 2020 he received 59 percent of the votes.

Statewide Trump received 62 percent of the votes cast, and Harris received 36.6 percent.

In the U.S. Senate seat on the ballot, incumbent Senator Roger Wicker also carried 10 of the county’s 12 precincts, earning 61.7 percent of the votes cast in Yalobusha County. Statewide Wicker received 63 percent of the votes to win another term.

In the bid for the 2nd Congressional District, Democratic incumbent Bennie Thompson won another term with 61.7 percent of the votes cast across the district. Republican challenger Ron Eller received 38.3 percent of the votes.

In Yalobusha County, Thompson trailed Eller, receiving 2,480 votes or 42.5 percent. Eller received 3,360 votes in Yalobusha County, or 57.5 percent.
Circuit Clerk Daryl Burney reported strong voter turnout in Yalobusha, with 71.5 percent of the registered voters casting a ballot in the election. A complete precinct breakdown of the election results is shown above.
