Hello, and welcome back once again! I’m so glad you’re here reading this week’s edition of Inside the Blue and White, your source for all the latest news from Water Valley High School. It’s been a beautiful week for our students and student-athletes alike!
Big news for the golf team this past week! The boys played their district tournament at Pine Hills Country Club in Calhoun this past Monday. The tournament was to decide if the boys would make the state tournament — and they did it! The boys pulled through with an overall score of 335. They needed 345 to qualify as a team.
Allen Paysinger and Levi Bryant led the way with an 80 and an 81 on the day for the Devils. The boys will play in the state tournament in Brookhaven on Oct. 27–28. Be sure to stay in touch and wish them luck as they prepare for their big weekend this month.
Next, volleyball served it Tuesday against East Union. East Union was number one in District 2, and we ended up being third behind Myrtle. We ended up falling short, but we played very well. Our libero, Bentlee Tucker, was out because of a back injury, so Natalie Hernandez took her spot for this game, and Mariah Wilson was the setter.
Saturday marked the first round of the playoffs, and although our Blue Devils fought hard, we came up just short against Hatley. The game was packed with emotion, heart, and undeniable love for the sport and for one another. Every player gave it their all until the very last whistle, showing true dedication and Blue Devil pride.
For our seniors (including me), it was a bittersweet moment — one final time under the lights in a Blue Devil uniform. We hope our leadership, hard work, and passion have left a lasting impact on the team. As we close out this season, we look forward to the future with hope and excitement. Next year will bring new faces, new goals, and countless new memories waiting to be made. The Blue Devil spirit lives on, stronger than ever!
Football brought home a big district win last Friday against the Bruce Trojans! Bruce came into the game undefeated, but after facing our boys, they’re now 5-1 — and so are we. Fun fact: Bruce hasn’t beaten the Blue Devils since 2008, and our boys are keeping that streak alive!
The team will travel to take on Baldwyn on their turf Thursday night. While this won’t be a district game, it’s still an important matchup, so make sure you come out and support your Blue Devils as they keep this great momentum rolling!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this week’s article! I truly hope you enjoyed catching up on all the exciting things happening around Water Valley High School. The students and athletes have been working hard, and it’s always great to share their accomplishments with you. We’ll be taking a short break, but I can’t wait to be back with even more stories, updates, and highlights.

The Water Valley High School band had another successful outing at the Northeast Community College Marching Festival. The drum major, color guard and band earned superior ratings. It was the band’s first-ever superior at the NECC Festival, which is known for tough judging. The band travels to Grenada next Saturday for the State Marching Evaluation and will be going for a triple crown of superior ratings after earning top marks at last month’s Crossroads Classic Festival and Competition.
