Hello and welcome back to another exciting week of Inside the Blue and White! It’s been another great week here at Water Valley High School, filled with hard work, school spirit, and plenty of memorable moments. Teachers and staff have been busy preparing for upcoming events and celebrating the many successes happening around our school. As we move further into the semester, we can really see the dedication and pride that make Water Valley High school such a special place.
Football had another great game this past Friday! The Blue Devils took on Strayhorn for an important district matchup, and it was also senior night! The first half started off a little rocky, but after halftime, the boys came back ready to fight. With strong defense and some big plays on offense, the Blue Devils pulled through and finished the game with a 42–26 win! The energy from the crowd was amazing, and the team definitely fed off that support. Next week, the Blue Devils are gearing up for another district game against East Union — and it’s looking to be another exciting one! Let’s keep that momentum going.
The seniors had a fun and busy week! On Tuesday, we headed out to Northwest to tour the campus. We split up into different groups based on what we were interested in — some toured the dorms, while others checked out the campus and sports facilities. It was a great chance to get a feel for college life and see what Northwest has to offer! Then on Friday, the seniors took another trip to Everest, where we got to tour the building and learn about their programs. They showed us the coding classes and a bunch of other cool things they offer. It was definitely a good experience and gave everyone a lot to think about for the future!
The second-year Law and Public Safety students were busy last week! They’ve been learning all about topographical map reading, land navigation, and how to measure distances between plotted points. They even practiced shooting an azimuth, basically figuring out direction and degrees of travel, and learned how to calculate their own pace factor so they can tell exactly how far they’ve gone on a path.
This week, they’ll be putting all those new skills to the test out in the woods, where they’ll navigate between four different coordinates on their own. Sounds like an exciting challenge!
Students from Davidson Elementary and Water Valley High School had an amazing time competing in the Area 4 Bowling Special Olympics! It was such a joyful day filled with laughter, teamwork, and plenty of strikes and spares. Our students represented their schools with so much pride and heart, showing great sportsmanship and cheering each other on the entire time. Everyone gave it their best effort, and the smiles on their faces said it all. It was truly inspiring to see how much fun they had while supporting one another — proving that the spirit of the Special Olympics is all about friendship, determination, and celebrating every victory, big or small.

Water Valley Fire Chief Mark McGavock and Fire Inspector/City Inspector Will Carter help test students’ skills as they prepare to navigate between different coordinates.
That wraps up this week inside of the halls of Water Valley! Thank you so much for reading this weeks column! Stay tuned for more exciting events this week s our golf team competed in the state tournament, held at the Brookhaven Country Club Monday and Tuesday.
