Hey, and welcome back to Inside the Blue and White, where I share everything happening around Water Valley High School! While this week may have seemed a little slower than usual, there were still plenty of great moments worth celebrating. From students continuing to shine in and out of the classroom to exciting preparations for upcoming events, Water Valley stayed busy in all the best ways. Even during a quieter week, our school community showed its spirit, dedication and pride.
My dear friend, junior Kylan Armstrong, has been selected to participate in the MAC 1-4A North Junior All-Star Game.

Kylan Armstrong, a 6’4 junior guard for the Blue Devils, was named to the Mississippi Association of Coaches North All-Star roster.
“Hey everyone of Yalobusha, my name is Kylan Armstrong and I have been selected to play in the MAC 1-4A Junior All-Star Game. The Mississippi Junior All-Star Basketball Game showcases the state’s top high school juniors, typically matching North Mississippi players against South Mississippi. Players are selected by the Mississippi Association of Coaches (MAC), and the event gives college coaches an early look at athletes heading into their senior season.
“Being selected for the Junior All-Star Game is a blessing for me. I’m excited for the opportunity to represent myself and what I have worked hard for every day. It means a lot to be recognized by those coaches and to compete against many talented players. I thank God.”
Water Valley High School FFA students have been hard at work in the greenhouse preparing cool-season raised beds. Students are growing a variety of crops, including mustards, turnips, lettuces, spinach, collards, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and more. These plants have either been placed directly into raised beds, are ready to be transplanted into grow bags for greenhouse or outdoor growth, or are waiting to be moved into outdoor gardens.
Our high school basketball teams had a strong week! On Tuesday, the boys’ and girls’ teams played a district game against Myrtle. The girls fought hard in a very close matchup, falling just short with a final score of 50-47. The boys followed with an impressive performance, pulling away for a big 68-50 win. On Friday, both teams took on East Union in another district matchup. The girls played with determination but came up short, ending the game 56-35. The boys’ game was a close battle throughout, but they ultimately fell 72-62.
At presstime Tuesday, the teams were facing Bruce on the road.
And that wraps it up for this week! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this week’s column!
