The Town & Country Garden Club will make Thanksgiving a little easier for one lucky winner. The club is giving away a new freezer stocked with a turkey, homemade casseroles and homemade desserts. Tickets are $15 each, and the drawing will be held November 16, giving the winner plenty of time to enjoy the prize for Thanksgiving.
The freezer is already shaping up to be well stocked. Homemade dishes currently pledged include sweet potato casserole, dressing, green bean casserole, corn casserole, cheesy potatoes, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, chicken tetrazzini, squash casserole, chicken chili and chicken spaghetti. Homemade desserts currently include carrot cake, caramel cake and pecan pie. The club will also provide a turkey and cranberry sauce, with additional casseroles and desserts still being added.
Committee co-chair Patsy Humphreys said the idea was to create a fundraiser that would be both useful and fun.
“We wanted to do something a little different, and with the drawing just before Thanksgiving, a freezer filled with homemade food seemed like a perfect fit,” Humphreys said.
The freezer is currently on display in the lobby of BankFirst, where it is difficult to miss thanks to a rather enthusiastic red bow. Tickets may be purchased at BankFirst or from any Town & Country Garden Club member.
The club is especially appreciative of BankFirst for providing a prominent place to display the freezer and for helping with ticket sales.
“We are very grateful to BankFirst for giving us such a wonderful place to display the freezer and for helping us sell tickets,” Jessie Gurner said. “Their support allows us to keep the fundraiser visible in the community, and every ticket sold helps support the projects our club carries out around Water Valley.”
Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Town & Country Garden Club’s community projects, including its ongoing beautification and improvement efforts in public spaces throughout Water Valley.
So, what’s for Thanksgiving dinner? The Garden Club may not have the entire answer, but a freezer, turkey and a collection of homemade casseroles and desserts would certainly be a very good start.
