SARDIS – Coach Taylor and the Blue Devils traveled to Sardis last Friday to take on the North Panola Cougars in their second division contest of the season. Water Valley entered the new year with a (4-10, 0-1 Region 2-3A) record, the Blue Devils were looking to get back on a roll with a big time division win.

Water Valley played well but was unable to get the much needed division win to start 2018 off with a bang. North Panola used a big third quarter en route to the 62-54 win over the Blue Devils.

At the half, North Panola held a slim 29-27 lead over Water Valley. The Blue Devils were outscored 21-13 in the third quarter, and the deficit would prove to be too much to overcome. The loss dropped Water Valley to (4-11, 0-2) on the season.

Throughout much of the season, the Blue Devils have been in striking distance at the end of games but have struggled to make the necessary plays to win the close games.

The Blue Devils will be back in action on Friday as they host the Coahoma Agricultural Tigers (12-3, 1-0).

Lady Devils

The Water Valley Lady Devils also traveled to Sardis last week to take on the Lady Cougars.

North Panola was too much for Water Valley, defeating the Lady Devils 63-20. The loss dropped the Lady Devils to (1-7, 0-2) on the season.

The Lady Devils will be back in action on Friday as they also host the Coahoma Agricultural Lady Tigers (0-14, 0-2) for another division contest.
