Parents Provide Update On Seizure Patient, Express Gratitude For Community Support
Dear Editor:
There was an article printed in the newspaper about three months ago, pertaining to a little boy that was having uncontrolled seizures. The little boy’s name is Timothy Willingham, Jr. (TJ). I am TJ’s mother and I would like to give the community an update on how TJ is doing. He had surgery at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis on October 26, 2007, but unfortunately the surgery did not do exactly as we wanted. The surgery was implemented to stop TJ’s drop seizures. He still has drop seizures, but it is not as bad as it used to be. He also has a Vagus Nerve Stimulator implanted and the doctors are working with that and a combination of medications to try and control his seizures.
We allow TJ to go to daycare only on the days that he feels like going. He is a very energetic child but when he has seizures it takes a lot out of him.
We did not know how we were going to pay for his surgery but our Lord and Savior did. We thank God for putting Mrs. Angelina Chandler and Mrs. Judith Taylor in our path. Mrs. Taylor wrote the letter to the editor, and that is when the community got involved. We thank God for all of you.
