OXFORD- The Lady Devils(1-6) traveled to Oxford last Tuesday, looking for a much needed win after a tough start to the season.

In a back and forth contest, the Lady Devils were unable to pull out a big win falling to the Lady Commodores by a final score of 12-11.

The Lady Devils came out firing, scoring six runs in the first inning. However, the Lady Commodores would strike back with eight runs over the next three innings.

Water Valley wouldn’t roll over, responding to the adversity with a big five run fourth inning to take an 11-8 lead through three and a half innings. Lafayette would respond with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead back.

The Lady Devils were unable to respond, falling by a final score of 12-11 in 5 innings (game ended early due to a time limit).

The loss dropped the Lady Devils to (2-6) on the young season. They’ll be back in action next Tuesday as they host the Lafayette Lady Commodores in what should be a fun sequel matchup.
