New Sayle Store Should Be Open By First Of Year

By David Howell

WATER VALLEY – Con-struction is expected to start by early fall for Sayle Oil Company’s new 5,000 square-foot convenience store on the south end of the bypass in Water Valley.  Dirt work has already started for the new location, which will replace the aging Gas Mart store directly across Frostland Drive from the new location, according to Kevin Sayle, Vice-President of Sayle Propane, Sayle C-stores and Sayle Transports.

Sayle said his company purchased eight acres at the bypass intersection and will utilize 2.5 acres of the tract for the new store, which includes a small truck stop and convenience store. He also said the company will have three 1.5 acres lots available for lease for potential development adjacent to the store. He added that the new store will be twice the size of the current store and serve the same food.

Sayle Oil Company currently operates 13 convenience stores, mostly in north Mississippi, in addition to propane businesses and distribution of fuel and lubricants. Sayle said the company has owned the Water Valley store on Frostland Drive for two decades after purchasing the business from John Ford.

“We try to update what we can,” Sayle said about routine improvements made at the company’s stores. “If they are beyond updating, we will replace them.”’

Sayle said the goal is to be open in the new location by the first of the year.
