Celebrity Visit To The Valley?

The City of Water Valley had a visit from a nationally known celebrity recently. Tuesday, a week ago, a sizeable furry creature was spotted on the north side of Clay Street grooming himself. He then ambled slowly across the street. It had legs too short for a cat and, upon turning to look at the motorist, it was noted that it had too pointed a noise to be a cat.

What was it?
