Letter From Tornado Victims Praises Work Of Disaster Team

Dear Editor:

The Yalobusha Baptist Association sends special Thanks to the people of Yalobusha County for their support and to the volunteers who helped tornado victims in Mississippi.

The Yalobusha Baptist Disaster Relief Team was called to help in the aftermath of the tornado of April 24.  The Yalobusha Disaster Relief Team is a Chainsaw Unit. Other counties have Food Units, Shower Units, etc. All Teams help in any way needed during a disaster. A team of ten men worked that week.

The following week they were called to go to Walnut and a total of thirteen men teamed that week to work. We are very grateful to these men.

A  letter was received from the Benton-Tippah Baptist Association expressing their appreciation to the Yalobusha Baptist Disaster Relief Team for their work in Walnut.

The Yalobusha Baptist Association would like to share a portion of a letter sent from one family of the Yazoo City tornado victims:

“Herbert and I can not put into words our appreciation for what the Yalobusha Baptist Relief Team did for us the week following the devastating tornado in Yazoo City on April 24. I prayed for angels to come to our aid and Lo—He sent us angels with chainsaws!!

“These men are such a testimony to God and what helping others is all about! We are still without lights, gas and water, but we are safe and our home was spared from any damage. Because I was in our hall praying that God would keep us safe and spare our home and He answered my prayer! Every house around us has damage or was destroyed. Our front yard was full of trees and debris—our dogs were safe among all the mess—our back yard has some big limbs and our fence around our property will have to be almost totally replaced or repaired. God is so good!!

“Our yard is cleared now because of the wonderful men who came to our aid. These men are great at what they do—and we pray that God will continue to bless them and keep them safe as they continue their work in our area.

“God bless these wonderful men and their ministry to others!

  “In God’s Love,
  Herbert and Jymme Bond
  Yazoo City”
