A Great Big Thank You To Valley Parade Participants
Spectators reported this year’s Christmas parade was bigger and better than ever.
Before I forget and my memory is still good, I would like to tell everybody:
What a wonderful Christmas parade we had in Water Valley on Saturday, Dec. 5. Many people helped by participating in many different ways.
Each year the electric department puts up the Christmas decorations and it gives you the feeling of Christmas. The police department helps in closing off streets along the parade route and escorts the Grand Marshal leading the parade through the Main Street route. The Town & Country Garden Club does a marvelous job on decorating the Bandstand and the planters year round. The Christmas decorations are always pretty. The Water Valley Garden Club does a wonderful job keeping the Gazebo decorated throughout the year and Christmas. The North Mississippi Herald and the Coffeeville Courier publicizes the Christmas Parade several months before so anyone wishing to participate can do so. Morgan and Morgan of WO7BN-TV comes each year to record the Christmas parade to be aired at a later date.
A SPECIAL THANKS to all of the groups that built the 14 floats for the Christmas parade. It was wonderful to see the floats entered by The Sonic Drive-In, Cub Scouts Pack 14, U.S. Corps of Enid Lake, Woodland Hills Baptist Church, Friends of Cossar State Park, The Rodrique Family, First United Pente-costal Church, Grenada Lake Motorcycle Aware-ness Campaign, Adonai Church, Camp Ground Baptist Church, VFW Post 4100 Ladies Auxiliary, Valley Agri-Supply, Valley Elite Dance Team and the Baker Street Park. It was wonderful to have 4 churches participating in the parade. Along the parade route, spectators were greeted by Frosty the Snowman and the Sonic Drive-In’s hot dog and Hamburger. There were several groups participating: The National Guard, the WVHS Band, Yalobusha 4-H Clubs, Girl Scouts, The WVHS and WVJrHS Cheerleaders, The Devil Dolls, The homecoming court, The Watermelon court, WVHS and WVJrHS Most Beautiful, The SCAA and The Yalobusha County Sea Hawks Youth League. There were several antiques vehicles, many fire department units, EMT vehicles and four wheelers adding to the parade.
The Water Valley Christmas Parade was one of the best in recent years. To each and everyone of you that participated in any way, whether you helped with the building of a float or you helped someone who did or anything that you did, I want to say “THANK YOU” for helping.
Without the help of all of you that assisted with the parade, my job wouldn’t had been easy. With the help of the many friends that helps each year, it makes a joyful and happy feeling doing the Christmas Parade each year. Without YOU, I couldn’t do it.
