MDE Postpones Release Of School Ratings

The long-anticipated accountability letter grade rankings for school districts across the state were pushed back another month after the Mississippi State Board of Education (MDE) did not approve the letter grades during a state meeting last Thursday.

Water Valley School District Superintendent Dr. Michael McInnis updated his school board during a noon meeting last Friday, explaining that he initially planned to inform the group about the results from the 2017-18 school year before the delay by MDE.

“MDE is going to meet in October and we are hopeful at that time they will have the results,” McInnis told trustees.

Initial reports by MDE indicated the Water Valley District retained a C rating.
