WATER VALLEY It’s time for the Water Valley Arts Council’s famous – and award winning – Art Crawl. If you’ve wondered what the big deal is about Water Valley, now is the perfect time to find out.
The 10th Annual Art Crawl is happening Saturday, October 6th, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The disco ball will be spinning at the After Party brought to you in part by Dial Back Sound beginning at 9:30 p.m. at Bozarts Gallery where D.J.s from The Vinyl Vipers will be pumping out the tunes. Don’t forget your dancing shoes!
There are over 20 stops on the tour this year; and all of them are comfortably within walking distance of each other. Half the stops are right on Main Street, several others are conveniently located in close-by neighborhoods. As always, this event is free, safe, and family-friendly; please bring your children.
The stops on Main Street include the Pace House, Episcopal Church, Wesley House, Bozarts Gallery, GG’s Flowers and Gifts, Violet Valley Book Store, Pocket Park, Misfits Boutique, Yalo Run Textiles, Chamber of Commerce, 20 South Main, Valley Steam Works and the Green Room Gallery.
Other stops include M. Foster Studio on Herring Street, the Lee House on McClarty Circle, The Caulfield House and Hinkley House on Leland Street, the Van Winkle House on Wagner Street, the David/Brown House on Panola Street and the Vaughn House and Abbott Kirkpatrick House on Kimmons Street.
“After 10 years, crawling in Water Valley has turned into an artform. Hundreds of people will be out to see the range of the creative spectrum in the Valley, it’s the funniest night of the year,” reports Main Street Director Mickey Howley.
While you are out and about, consider this an opportunity to peek inside some of the beautiful historic homes of Water Valley and shop at some pretty hip businesses while nibbling delicious finger food, and sipping a glass of wine or lemonade. Several crawl stations will have music in addition to art and snacks. Misfits Boutique is strutting their stuff on the catwalk with fall fashions starting at 7 p.m. in the pocket park on the corner of Main Street and Wagner Street. Come out, walk the town with friends, and visit with neighbors. It’s a magical night in the Valley.
Crawl maps can be picked up the night of the event from The Lee House, Valley STEAM Works, The Wesley House, or Bozarts Gallery. The event is sponsored by Mechanics Bank, Thomas Reynolds, Seven Oaks Funeral Home, Tri-Lakes Eye Clinic and Turnage Drug store.
