Fundraiser Continues To Purchase K-9
Shirts are available to help raise money for the sheriff’s department to purchase a K-9. Order forms are available at the Herald office or sheriff’s Department.
The Friends Of Yalobusha County Sheriff’s Department have raised over $7,000 to purchase a K-9 for the department. Fundraisers include raffles to win a new hunting rifle and a guided crappie fishing trip. Tickets cost $5 each or five for $20 in each of the raffles. The first raffle is for a Browning 6.5 Creedmoor AB3 Hunter rifle. The drawing will be held Dec. 1 immediately following the Christmas parade.
The second raffle is for a guided fishing trip by Long Branch Guide Service or Ree’s Guide Service. The trip can be on Grenada Lake, Lake Washington, Enid Lake or Sardis Lake. The drawing will be Saturday, March 2. You do not have to be present to win either of the raffles. Tickets are available from any deputy, at the sheriff’s department or at the Herald office.
Shirts are also being sold featuring a logo “Support The Paws That Enforce The Laws.” Shirts are available in small to XXXL and come in a variety of styles including tank tops, long and short sleeve t-shirts, a crew neck sweat and a hoodie sweat and range in price from $20 to $28. T-shirt order forms are available at the sheriff’s department or Herald office.
A bank account has been set up at Mechanic’s Bank, Friend’s of the Yalobusha County Sheriff’s Department, and donations can also be made at the bank.
Humphreys said the K-9 will be a valuable addition to the department, citing the weekend manhunt (see story, page 1) as an example.
“We have been very fortunate that neighboring departments have assisted with K-9s when asked, but there are times when it takes an hour or more to get a dog and handler and that can make a big difference,” the sheriff reported.
