Water Valley’s next big event “Christmas in the Valley,” is this Friday night, Nov. 30, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.  With a chance of rain looming, Chamber officials are keeping a close check on the weather and any updates will be shared on the Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.

“Frosty” will return, bringing snow with him, and “Anna” and “Elsa” and the “Grinch” and “Cindy Lou Who” will be our newest guests.  You’ll find new photo ops for Christmas pictures, as well as Junior Auxiliary’s annual “Photos with Santa” booth, at no charge.

JA members will also sell coffee and hot cider. Hot dogs and chili, funnel cakes and cotton candy, and hot chocolate will also be available.  Everyone’s favorite, the horse-drawn carriage rides will be back, and a new route is planned this year.  Bring the whole family out for this special night!

The city’s annual Christmas Parade will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, sponsored by the Tri-Lake Fairground Association.  Contact  J. C. Womble at 473-3190 or email him at  to register your parade entry.  There is no entry fee required.

Also on Saturday, December 1st, the Blackmur Memorial Library is sponsoring a “Pictures with Santa” event in the library from 9-11 a.m.  There is no charge for the pictures.

Saturday night from 4 to 7 p.m., the Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual Christmas Tour of Homes on Dec. 1.  Armband tickets are $10 per person and include visits to the homes of Dorris Crawford, Hank Ducey, Larry and Betty Hart, Bob and Dale Tyler, and the Episcopal Church on Main Street (see map right of article).  Tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce office during regular hours and on the event day from 1 to 5 p.m.

Winners of the Christmas Downtown Decorating Contest will be announced this weekend for Best Door, Best Window and Best Overall decorations.  Also, remember to read the Herald issues on Dec 6, 13, and 20 for the Chamber-Sponsored Christmas Decorations PUZZLE CONTEST.  A $25 prize will be awarded each week if you can solve the Photo Puzzle!

We hope you will plan to take advantage of all these wonderful Holiday Events, and the Chamber of Commerce encourages you to shop locally for your Christmas purchases.  Enjoy Water Valley!
