WATER VALLEY – Qualifying for county and state offices gets underway on Wednesday, Jan. 2, when courthouses open following the New Year’s holiday.

Both county and state offices are up for grabs in the 2019 election cycle that starts with the August 6 primary election and culminates with the November 5 general election. The qualifying period for state and county offices runs from January 3 to March 1.

At least one supervisor seat will be vacated, as District 3 Supervisor Lee McMinn announced he will not seek a third term.

Circuit Clerk Daryl Burney reported qualifying papers can be picked up in his offices in the courthouses in Water Valley and Coffeeville or downloaded from the Secretary of State’s website. The qualifying fee is $100.
